Trumpet by Meister is an upcoming fashion label designed by Swiss stylist Vanessa Meister Varma trained in Switzerland (ECAL) and the United Kingdom (Vivienne Westwood). The womenswear and accessories line originated in 2009 from a personal initiative of the designer to propose an alternative to current fashion trends. Trumpet by Meister strives to offer its clientele a unique dressing experience while pursuing an ethical agenda.
The collections draw design inspiration from Vanessa’s travels, reflecting the designer’s vivid imagination and rich visual vocabulary. Characterised by a playful use of colour and styles, the range combines fabrics and prints in a bold and experimental manner.
With a first collection in spring/summer 2009 the label now spans over four seasons all presented here. Shortlisted in several international fashion competitions within the first two years, the SS11 collection won a second prize at the Ethical Fashion Days in Geneva, October 2010.
Vanessa has recently opened a studio in Kerala, India where she aims to produce using local printing techniques, organic fabric and minimal wastage.
With the SS12 collection and an online retail store on the way, Trumpet by Meister hopes within the next few years to expand production and distribution to Swiss and European markets.
